So.... our 80's movies... HAVE YOU WATCHED/RE-WATCHED THEM YET??
The Princess Bride & Labyrinth

Which one did you watch? What did you think of it? Was it worth the re-watch/worth the hype?

1- Did you find any goofs/spoofs or bloopers?
2- What is your favorite quote?
3- Was there a scene you'd forgotten?
4- How 80's was it? I mean... really.
5- Anything else?

So.... our 80's movies that we'll discuss sometime mid-month are:
The Princess Bride & Labyrinth

Just a reminder, we have a free chatroom here which is open to anyone who wants to use it to coordinate watching at the same time or just to randomly chat.

Oh, and the goal of having more than one is to give you OPTIONS. You can pick one or the other or watch both -- it's all good.

Next up... BOOKS!
List up to four science-fiction books and I'll do the same (pick out the 2 or 3 most popular choices).

I know there are a lot of series out there. Everything seems to be a series lately. I don't know if that's good or bad - but if you're choosing something in a series, I think it's best to start with the first of a series?? What do you think?
Also, if it's widely published and available in various formats, that'd be useful for those who might have a harder time getting their hands on something.

Nominate up to four films from the 80's. Absolutely feel free to nominate a film someone else already has - as we'll be going with the movies that have the most interest.

If I can't determine 2-3 most popular nominations, I'll put up a ticky box in a couple days.

We have a free chatroom here which is open to anyone who wants to use it to coordinate watching at the same time or just to randomly chat.

P.S. I'll put up a book post in a few days. Looking at the previous poll, there were a lot of folks who read science fiction -- so start thinking of books you'd like to nominate. We're going to try to make sure they're accessible, if possible (ie. available in all countries, possibly via eBook or audiobook format, etc.)

How many of you would like to have monthly book or movie discussions? I'm thinking perhaps we can collectively pick 2-3 books and/or movies each month (that way, we have options) and host a discussion post where we can chatter on about it to our hearts content.

Collectively means everyone in the community would have input on the material because I don't want to come up with it every month. I know in the past I've read things I normally wouldn't have thought of due to the interest of a book/movie club, and like the idea of expanding my horizons.

- How do you tend to read books? By that I mean, do you purchase new, used, library, borrow from friends, eBook, etc.
- How about movies? Do you go to theatrical releases? Do you wait for the DVD? Stream?
(I'm not asking about whether you obtain via legal means or not, just what method you use to watch. If you say 'download', I'll assume you purchased it. *winks*)

um ...and here, have a poll.

Poll! )

Also, don't forget we have a friending meme going on. Lots of friendly folks, so stop on by! :D
