The Coffee House Reading Challenge

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I thought I'd post a quick reminder in case anyone was working on The Coffee, Tea and Thee Reading Challenge and, like me, still have some reading to get done. \o/

In the meantime, have some ticky boxes :D

I've got tea covered (SPACE BOOK!), but that's basically the only book I've read this month. I have a couple of possibilities for coffee, though, so that may still happen.

I think one should be fickle in pleasure reading. Why not?

For tea I read Theirs Not To Reason Why: An Officer's Duty by Jean Johnson. About a woman with precognitive abilities who joins the space military (and manipulates a bunch of people and collects a lot of followers who she orders around) to try to avoid an alien invasion she knows is coming in three hundred years. Some okay worldbuilding and decent adventure, but the main character is a bit insufferable at times. OTOH, it's kind of an interesting question: what are your rights and responsibilities when you have perfect knowledge of the future?

What did you pick for tea?

note that 'favorite place' =/= 'most frequent place'.

I'd rather curl up in a big chair and read, but mostly I do my reading on the train home...

There are so many good places to read, it's hard to narrow it down.

i get distracted easily so i'm not sure i could do it with a book i didn't already know, but its a nice way to "reread"

I'm done with the challenge. Was I supposed to ring a bell or drop a comment off somewhere?

I like audiobooks when I've already read the book, just as a re-listen, IF they're well read (which is not often the case), and then usually in the car or while I'm doing laundry or some other chore at home. The thing is that I'm an actress and a trained speech formation teacher, and I HEAR when people can't speak/read, and it tickles me enough to not be able to go through with an audiobook. It annoys me that they let people read who can't read, just because they are known actors/actresses or because they really can't tell the difference :/

Alan Rickman reads very well, and so does Ilyana Kadushin; they are the first that come to mind. Bob Denver did a good job reading his own memoirs, so did William Shatner.

Yay for a discussion post!

I checked off "morning" and "late at night" because I'll start off at midnight and then end up reading until the sun rises, haha.

I finished my first book in two days, but I've been having more trouble with the second since I got stuck helping out at the family business during spring break. (I haaaaaaaaaaate food service.) But I'm halfway through, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Hopefully I can get that last one in before the month is over. xP

I've finished Tea and Thee, and are currently working on the Coffee! *happy*

Also, I can read just about anywhere...
