The Coffee House Reading Challenge
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
I thought I'd post a quick reminder in case anyone was working on The Coffee, Tea and Thee Reading Challenge and, like me, still have some reading to get done. \o/
In the meantime, have some ticky boxes :D

do you listen to audiobooks?

I have 'Tea' (not the one I had planned, but what can I say - I'm fickle) and 'Thee' and need to get to 'Coffee' - although I have a couple book club books I'm working on as well so I'm not entirely sure I'll make it.
What space book did you read?

For tea I read Theirs Not To Reason Why: An Officer's Duty by Jean Johnson. About a woman with precognitive abilities who joins the space military (and manipulates a bunch of people and collects a lot of followers who she orders around) to try to avoid an alien invasion she knows is coming in three hundred years. Some okay worldbuilding and decent adventure, but the main character is a bit insufferable at times. OTOH, it's kind of an interesting question: what are your rights and responsibilities when you have perfect knowledge of the future?
What did you pick for tea?

Yours sounds interesting in a Terminator sort of way. Only Sarah Connor wasn't that insufferable (at least not to me).

I'd rather curl up in a big chair and read, but mostly I do my reading on the train home...

Well, maybe not at a rock concert.

I like audiobooks when I've already read the book, just as a re-listen, IF they're well read (which is not often the case), and then usually in the car or while I'm doing laundry or some other chore at home. The thing is that I'm an actress and a trained speech formation teacher, and I HEAR when people can't speak/read, and it tickles me enough to not be able to go through with an audiobook. It annoys me that they let people read who can't read, just because they are known actors/actresses or because they really can't tell the difference :/

I'll probably make a post at the end of the month where people can talk about what the read if they'd like.
Yeah, sometimes the performer can take me out of the story, other times they can draw me in. Do you remember some audiobooks you thought were well-read?

Yay for a discussion post!

I finished my first book in two days, but I've been having more trouble with the second since I got stuck helping out at the family business during spring break. (I haaaaaaaaaaate food service.) But I'm halfway through, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Hopefully I can get that last one in before the month is over. xP

Also, I can read just about anywhere...

That's good to be able to do, I can't read in cars but otherwise can read most places - distractions aren't always very distracting.
