sorry -- with your interest in swords and fencing and historical and mythological research, I thought that you might play in the SCA. Monty Python, I know! It is, after all, only a flesh wound!

...I got into that stuff because I started watching Xena at a young age... then I got into the medieval stuff later after Tolkien.

But I just looked up that group and it sounds pretty fun.

oh, it is! You should come and play with us. I was always a costume junkie, so that was my in. But the child and the husband both do modern sport fencing as well as SCA rapier.

In case you didn't find it, this http://carolingia.net/site/ is the "local" group for Boston -- and this http://www.scademo.com/ is a bunch of the cool stuff that happens at SCA events. The lady in the upper right of the SCAdemo page is one of the former queens of Meridies, Her Grace, Lethrenn. (Meridies is the SE us (except for SC and most of Florida -- it's TN, GA, AL, panhandle FL)

Oh that looks like a lot of fun. I'm not too much for the costume thing, but I'd love a chance to go back to some weapons. I'm just on law school schedule which eats up so much of my time. I even had to put a a few years halt on picking up my martial arts belt rankings. But maybe next summer when I'm on a more traditional work schedule might work out for me.

And yeah, I know all about the school thing -- it's got to take first priority until you're done.
