Your name: Adrienne Age: 34 Location: Ohio Five things you think are awesome: my cats, anything in nature, peanut butter, television, crazy-talented photographers I find on the Internet Three major dislikes: intolerance in all its myriad forms, religious absolutism, and the coconut
Current Fandoms: These are the shows (in no particular order) that I love, even if I don't participate in their online fandom shenanigans (yes, I'm looking at YOU, Supernatural): Lewis, Castle, Face/Off, Criminal Minds, The Big Bang Theory, Don't Trust the B**** in Apt 23, Leverage, Psych, Breaking Bad, Whitechapel, BBC Sherlock, Doctor Who and Torchwood, Merlin, Downton Abbey, Saving Hope, and even though I threaten to quit watching it every week, The Vampire Diaries. I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Past Fandoms: The off-the air stuff: Prison Break, Sports Night, The 4400, due South, The X-Files, Homicide, Smallville, The Killing (US) and so forth and so on...I've watched A LOT of TV in my life, so I know a little bit about everything, and I'm willing to chat about it. Things you like about these fandoms: (ships, characters etc. etc.) I watch for the stories, the characters. For escapism. For special effects and jaw-dropping cliff hangers, and pretty people. British accents. Rupert Penry-Jones. lol. I'm not an obsessive shipper but I appreciate that some people are. I still occasionally read Sherlock fic, but that's about it. My only ever OTP is As the World Turns' Luke and Reid. With Parker and Hardison following closely. ;)
Movie you are most looking forward to seeing this year: Star Trek. I'm not a huge film person anymore; I don't even know what else is coming out, but if it has more Karl Urban, I'm there. Book you are most looking forward to seeing this year: All of them. All the books! Seriously, I was an absolute sloth last year and can count on one hand the number of books that I read, so I am looking forward to reading anything and everything this year. Finding someone who can give me a kick in the pants in this department would be nice. I'm currently reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and I'm looking forward to finishing the Shetland Island Quartet by Ann Cleeves. Tv Show you are most looking forward to seeing this year: Merlin (just started here), Downton Abbey (starts tonight!), Psych, the series finale of Breaking Bad this summer, the final season of Lewis, and later on, Major Crimes.
Hobbies gardening, surfing the Internet and collecting pretty pictures of things, hanging with my cats, crafts of various sorts when the mood hits, reading, making icons and (hopefully) writing some more fanfic, photography, bird watching, learning about history--all the history ever, anywhere Favourite season Spring...I started sketching out my flower gardens already yesterday, lol.
What you are looking for in a friend: Someone who can put up with the occasional lapses in silence on my DW (even though I'm always around if you need me!); who enjoys comments and laughing and general geekery; who doesn't mind sharing and exchanging stories about the worlds we live in... The optional gif part:
I'd like to be friends :) I have a into on this post but I'm not quite sure how to link you directly to it. I'll add you and you can read my journal and see what you think.
I've already added you, as you probably have noticed. It was late last night, lol. I feel I ought to comment here as well, so everything is nice and uniform.
HELLO!! I am going to add you now, mostly because you love Dean Winchester, and anyone who loves Dean Winchester is A-OK in my book.
I'm on LJ, too (was reading your convo with everythingshiny below), but I've disabled comments there, and all my icons live here now. But you can add me there as well, if you want. Or not.
80's children ALWAYS. You can take the girl out the 80s (and oh, I guess we are way out of the 80s now), but you can't take the 80s out of the girl! :-)
Yes, NEIL DIAMOND. I have pretty much been raised from birth with his music. My mom is a huge fan, and she passed it on to me.
Oh, and also? I must quote your profile and agree: "I love Dean Winchester." Dean Winchester is probably the reason I can never give up on Supernatural. Don't get me wrong, I do love the show, but some of the plots/what happened to some of the characters.... (Though I don't watch in real-time any more. I just buy the seasons on DVD, as they come out, and watch them in marathons. Though I'm a little behind. I have seasons 6 and 7 to watch, now that the holiday craziness is over.)
My mom raised me on Neil Diamond, too. We just saw him again this past July. And, I got a record player for my birthday last month and have been playing old albums of his from the seventies and eighties. Nothing like the crackle of vinyl. Lol.
I understand your SPN feelings completely. For me, the series could have ended after season five. I tolerated season six, but season seven is really trying my patience. I love Dean, and I love Castiel. But I can only be put through the Sam/Dean repetitive angst ringer so many times before I go numb. :-/
Mom and I have gone to (if I'm remembering right) 4 or 5 Neil Diamond concerts together, over the past 20 years or so! LOL. It's always a fun night. But damn concert tickets have gotten really expensive!!
Yeah, I have mixed feelings about SPN going past season 5. On one hand -- YAY -- I mean, it's SPN and it totally fills my Dean - fix. ;-)
But, on the other hand, the way Season 5 ended, wasn't so bad. I kind of liked the idea of Dean attempting to be 'normal'. That seemed ok. (Though I'm not sure the idea of him settling down with Lisa and Ben was ever terribly realistic, and the lack of Castiel wasn't so great, either...)
See, I think that's why I've been hesitating a little to watch Season 6 .... I just know it's going to be full of Sam/Dean angst, and that gets old. Poor Dean still having to sacrifice and suffer for the younger brother who ... well, fill in the blanks as needed. :-P Still, I think I am going to start working on watching season 6 & 7 soon, just because season 8 will be over in the spring/summer, and by September-ish it'll be out on DVD. (And I'll be further behind. LOL)
We have a crap ton of similar interest and things in common. Non-tolerance of SPN shenanigans, Sherlock, Merlin, and Downton Abbey. I also give you cred since you stuck with Vampire Diaries... this season killed it for me.
I dipped my toe in the waters of Supernatural fandom once. I think a piranha bit it off, and I haven't been back since. And don't even get me started on TVD!
So we both love cats, peanut butter, Castle, Doctor Who, Saving Hope, Smallville, and Homicide. This seems plenty of good reasons to be friends, if you're up for it!
Yes, Cassidy Freeman! All the Cassidy Freeman! Tess is my absolute favorite. Do you watch Longmire? I'm not in love with it in a fandom way but I adore Cady and obviously want the entire show to revolve around her.
The vegan group is so not active. I probably need to be a less lazy mod. But there are some good recipes so it's worth checking out!
