And then moving there in August.

I always have so much fun and I adore Central Park. It's what Patterson Park wants to be when it grows up. Only without the zoo.
EXCITING MOVING!!!!

This year, I'm off to Budapest and hoping to make day trips to Vienna and Bratislava.
My dream vacation right now is Cape Town but it changes all the time! I'd also love to go to South Korea and Vancouver, as well as New Zealand.
As for travel advice... it's weird, I love travel but I'm actually not the best at it? Haha. I guess it'd be not to be afraid to get your hands dirty. My best tip for travelling is to take public transport as much as possible - I think you just get to see so much more than doing the organised tours.

I visited the UK twice and enjoyed both trips. I'd love to go to London again.
What about Japan made it your favorite?

I've been to Italy, England, as far east as Halifax in Canada, and to various parts of the United States. London, Napa Valley, and Québec City were my favourites of the places I've been. Venice and Rome were pretty amazing too.
This year I'm going to Baltimore. (That counts, right?) I'm planning on heading back to London next year.
I have lots of other places I'd like to visit. Japan. Thailand. Spain. Morocco. I also need to see western Canada. One day.

Where the crime rate is high and expectations are low. *nods*
ooo.... Morocco.

Morocco's pretty high on my list. I'm supposed to be going with my brother. Eventually. I should really plan that...

I like to travel, I also like to not travel. Up until this year I'd travel frequently for work and sometimes you just get tired of hotel rooms and want your own bed.
Are you an armchair traveler?
Yes, I read travel guides and have a lot of maps.
Where have you gone?
Mostly North America, I've been to the UK twice.
What travel destination was your favorite?
Last year I went to the Cascades, it was beautiful.
Where are you going this year?
I'm going to Peru and trekking the Inca Trail next month. I'm kinda freaking out.
What's your dream vacation?
Not sure, but I've love to go to Italy one day. Mostly to eat.
Do you have any travel advice?
Domestic US travel, I could talk your ear off. International - not so much - I could use some.

Also, the Inca Trail will be AWESOME.

Travel destinations: I visited the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouth Port, MA, once. That was pretty cool. I've been to New York City a few times and have no special affection for it. So huge! So expensive! So dirty! I consider it overrated. But maybe that's just my Boston prejudice kicking in.

LOL -- I'm going to be in South America in a tent and will probably long for a 'grotty' bathroom (I assume grotty is gross).
Sorry you don't find NYC enjoyable.

What's an armchair traveler?
I went to the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Naples-Fl, Tennessee, North Carolina, Erie, Canada, Washington DC, and a few others. I really enjoyed the Outer Banks and Erie. Probably not going anywhere this year b/c we bought a house. LOL (just got internet today!)
I'd love to see clear water somewhere. :)
NOPE. Just bring snacks.

Do you like to travel?
To a certain extent. I enjoy traveling, but I enjoy having holidays at home without traveling as well.
Are you an armchair traveler?
Not really. I tend to just... go.
Where have you gone?
Canada, Japan (lived for 2+ years), Taiwan, Malaysia (living for 6+ months), Singapore. Plus random places around the US.
What travel destination was your favorite?
Taiwan was great. Taipei is an amazing city.
Where are you going this year?
I might go to Bali in a couple of weeks for a few days. I'm planning on going to Nepal in August. Maybe Hong Kong in September. And then possibly Thailand/Cambodia in November/December.
What's your dream vacation?
I want to go to Europe.
Do you have any travel advice?
Act like you know what you're doing. Bored expat who looks like they live there = less of a target than obvious tourist. Tell pushy cab drivers to stuff themselves. Support local businesses. Always carry about the equivalent of Pepto Bismol. Just because it's "safe" doesn't mean it's going to agree with your tummy. Don't do too much. Schedule in rest time. You'll enjoy your holiday more that way.

Have a great time in Bali!
