my neighborhood

For the May theme I decided to take some photos around my neighborhood while I ran a couple errands. I had a grand design of taking a long walk around the neighborhood and take lots of pictures but it's about 100F outside right now and I lost the will to live immediately stepping outside my door. So it's just stuff from right around my place, sorry. XD So anyway, I live in Tempe, Arizona, USA, about 20 mins outside Phoenix. It's the desert, and it's hot.

This is mah house. It's a duplex in a unit of duplexes. There is the biggest olive tree ever which hangs over my backyard. It's wonderful because SHADE.

Down mah street. No clouds. There are never clouds.

Busy picture, but I was trying to get a picture of the light rail real quick and I was far away so I had to zoom. XD At the end of my street is a light rail stop which is super handy. The light rail cars were designed by a Japanese company, so I feel very secure about their stability and safety! :D

Palm trees. PALM TREES EVERYWHERE.

POPPIN TAGS AT THE THRIFT SHOP. I love my local thrift store, they've always got tons of amazing stuff to sift through, and everything is cheap especially on deal days. They organize all their clothes by color which makes me tingle in my organizational bits.

Then I went to the grocery store, where they have every flavor of Jarritos available. Pineapple is my fave.

A middle eastern restaurant & market which has the absolute best falafel you will taste anywhere I guarantee that claim 1000%. Also I always think the logo on their sign is a dalek when I see it out of the corner of my eye.

Ginormous eucalyptus tree. I've never seen one so big. They call these trees the widowmakers because the branches have a tendency to just break off and fall and if you happen to be under it when it does you'll probably die. I kind of hate walking under it. >.<

Flowers from someone's yard hanging over a wall. I don't know what these flowers are but they are pretty.

Occasionally some graffiti shows up around the neighborhood, usually it's something interesting looking and I like it. Very little of the graffiti is just pointless tagging.

Okay this is not an interesting picture really (lol) but I wanted to share it because when I first moved here I was confused by this. They run these little alleyways behind all the houses here, and that's where people put their trashcans (instead of on the main street which looks ugly!), and also people dump stuff back there so sometimes you can troll the alleyways and find serviceable dumped furniture. They didn't do this where I'm from so it was interesting to me. :D

SO MANY PALM TREES. I've been here three years now and still, sometimes when I see a palm tree I'm just like HOLY COW IT'S A PALM TREE!

My door. BAM HOME AGAIN. :D

But I dug around the camera, and I was in Phoenix for comicon this past weekend and I took a couple pictures around the city so I will share those too. Buildingggggggsssssssss.

This is the 5th tallest building in the city! There are not many tall buildings in Phoenix. It is a city that is spread out rather than up, but I like it that way.

Always some pretty imagery in the city, though.

I really liked this building. :3

That's it! Exciting.. ish? ahaha. I do love where I live, a lot. Even though it's hot as heck.
